New Bridge to Mainland Ready in 2007

The street connection from mainland to the island of Rügen near Stralsund crosses the old Rügendamm and the Ziegelgraben via a folding bridge, that opens for ships to pass through five times every day. Especially in the summertime and on weekends it is completely overloaded what leads to traffic jams lasting for hours.

Thatâ%u20AC%u2122s why a second bridge over the Strelasund shall redress this bottleneck, providing an obstacle for the economic and tourist development of the island of Rügen and the whole region.

Official building start of the second Strelasund crossing was August 31, 2004. pimp-my-homepage After a planned building time of 33 months the bridge shall be finished in the end of April 2007, so that the new â%u20AC%u0153Gate to Rügenâ%u20AC¯ can already receive the summer traffic 2007 between the mainland and the island of Rügen.
